Bullsharks in the coomera

Been out a couple of nights on the Coomera river trying to catch a bully without any luck . Using live poddy/herring double-hooked wire trace sitting 1-1.5m in the water below a baloon. Anchored about 20-25m away from the service road the other side to the boat ramp and the M1. Is it getting too cold for the bullies? What am I doing wrong guys!

i would say that it may be a little cold for them

personally i stopped fishing for them a while back, the water temp has dropped a fair bit

The water is feeling cooler, but still reading around 20 degrees most trips, which is a few degrees cooler than summer, but not a lot. COuld just be the river systems have not settled properly after all the rain in early April.

use a live trevally if u can .. the sharks snap them up down there

Thanks for the tips guys! Had a feeling it was getting a bit cold . What are they upto during winter? Just less active/not feeding?

mate id keep trying ive seen them out there in the past week i had a mate give them a try and he was successfull but only small ..he recomends setting a burly trail early just on dark and be prepared for a long and tough night

Got 2 in one night at Bulimba a couple of weeks back.

Iankek, mate yeah id lose the baloon. Apart from that it sounds like you are on the right track!

yeah ive heard lot of people getting them in the logan... yet to try might give it a go this year cheers apparently up towards carbrook is successful....

Is there a legal limit on bullsharks?

yep max 1.5m long and a limit of 1 that goes the same with any shark i beleive except those protected species such as grey nurse, great white etc

considering they're born as live pups at around 80cm and grow to 1.2m or so fairly quickly there's not much point in a minimum size. and as we saw from the super liver thread a few days ago the littlies dont feed for a while.
