queensland ADVICE NEEDED: Townsville

G'day guys

Well I'm working tomorrow.

Jumping on the plane tomorrow and heading up to townsville. I envisage that it will only take me a couple of hours to do the work at most, leaving me with a few spare hours to kill in Townsville.

Now, I see theres a river AND the beach at Townsville.

So. doing the maths. Water + Spare time + my trusty 4lbs outfit = fishing time. Anyone know of any good locations that are easily accessible landbased? also what should I expect? (Should I take my 8lbs or 15lbs up instead)

You will ave plenty of fun with a 4lb rig.

Mate of mine lives in townsville and is a mad fisho.

Mad! being to operative word.

Try the flats at the river mouth for flattys hard bodies and soft plastics (if you're not too afraid of snappys {crocs}), or if thats not the go, try off the weir of near there in town for a Barra if you're lucky but more likely a tilapia of 4.

Best yet if none of these tips are understandable go to a decent tackle shop and ask them.

I travel between Brissy, Gladstone. Mackay and Townsville pretty frequently and these are my lifelines for info on where is fishing best.

jump on a ferry to magnetic island and go to the dissused jetty at arcadia and catch a spaniard of thejetty i used to most mornings there was a tackle shop there too you may see my ugly mug on the 'old' brag board
