trailer bearings

blew the bearings on the trailer on the way home from the dam on the weekend and just made it home. the stub end on the axle got ground out and now i'm getting a new galvenised axle. the guy at the shop said never use those chinese brands even though they were marines bearings. what brands does anyone use here ?

no problem. i keep a few in the boot ready to go, both ford and holden bearings, 2 of each.

Yep, pretty sure they are made in china though, same as most of the other brands.

Its all about maintenance, not the brand. Salt will kill any brand just as quick.

Pretty sure the last lot of timken's I put in were made in the USA and they ended up cheaper than the chineses ones from BCF.

But yeah Feral you are absolutely correct they will all fail just as quickly with salt and sand in them.

Has any one here tried running oiler's? A mate has four on his boat and they go great. They have a clear window so you can tel if therer is water in them (oil will go cloudy) or if the oil is low.

i replaced them in august 3 months ago should last longer than that but i've got a sneeky suspicion i lost my dust cap and it let the nasties in

i only ever use timken or NYK roller bearings good price and quality bearing.
