just go catch one and stick him in fresh water with some rock salt and as you do your water changes you add less and less salt each time, Jacks like a lot of other fish are Euryhaline

*still has to be of legal size mate don't forget if this is the path you take!

I'm not a big fan of seeing an intelligent, aggressive fish line a jack taken from the wild and put into 200 liters of water... I know the aquarium shop at lawnton had one a while ago for $200, and the pet shop at stafford carries a lot of natives, worth trying them... I only know the shops on northside sorry. Wherever you get it from, make sure you take lots of video of it terrorising goldfish for us! Haha

He can try catch one at the NSW area, no legal limit.

Good luck Randle, I'll know where to go now to catch Jacks :P

i kinda agree there. dont you need a protein skimmer when you have a salt water aquarium? to much of a sudden water change can put the fish in shock and kill it. if it was that easy we'll have all the colorful marine fish in fresh water tanks by now. do your research.

bring it back to QLD and it has to be of legal size here.

i have kept one for over a year and a half, we also converted a moses to fresh for about 6 months then jack and im were not getting on so released him, but when jacks do get sick i have found they get really sick, tank cleaning and water changes are a must once every 2 weeks to a month cleaning the filter in its own water you have siphened out, dont over feed them livies especially gold fish as they are not the best live food for them, try keep him on pellets and feed livies occasionally as it can get very expensive and time consuming getting livies and very frustrating when they dont eat pellets, good luck
