queensland Bass Before Permits (Heavily Pictured)

Dino and I decided Saturday morning was looking absolutely magical for a fish, so off we went again on another hike around Samsonvale. Permits for the Boating Access Scheme were being handed out from 9am at the ramp, so we planned to be done fishing by then.

It was very wet, the wind was up (going in a different direction to the forecast, too!), and the fish were on. We started a little slowly, but after I found the first Bass, the numbers steadily increased. The bank was pretty thick with trees, but the gaps we could flick into had fish, so wasn't too difficult. I once again started and finished with my favourite Smak spinnerbait, and Dino used one too, as well as blades and beetlespins. Quite a few nice fat Bass amongst the total today, and keeping them off the timber was part of the fun.

I even found a couple of lures, which is another reason I love walking the banks. It's not uncommon to find a few each trip when the water is down a bit Someone tell me what a ZagBug is worth? Never seen one, but looks out of my price range haha.

Some really nice fish there! Passed both of you as you were driving down Addsets Rd but you may not have known it was us as we were in a different car. When retrieving the spinnerbaits do you find that you get snagged close to the bank often? Dad and I might head out for a wander tomorrow morning throwing slugs, blades and spinnerbaits. Did you have any luck with slugs today?

While you 2 were sweating it out in the wintery weather I called in for my permit and came out with NUMBER 1 would you believe. Might go for a walk tomorrow morning . Tight lines. :cheer: IM

James as you get closer to the bank start raising your rod so the s/bait is just under the surface. No slugs today.

I fondly remember the days of walking the banks at NPD blasting out long casts and muscling bass through the snags.

Nah permit number one means you only catch one per trip!!

Best permits are 50 and upwards!!!

Can't believe that we issued over half the purchased permits yesterday.
