This is the slowest forum I frequent. With a billions ads it's not surprising I guess. However it still requires me to login every time. Whatever device I'm on. Sorry to say I don't frequent this site as much due to these annoying little reasons.

Rant over,

10 secs to load a site is annoying and will have a few people just close the browser/tab.

2MB is massive for a website. Having a look through the results on that page can help speed up the site. Get rid of any assets over 100KB for a start. I'm sure there are plugins for Joomla! which will compress and deal with the .css files and .js files. Once the .js and .css files are sorted I bet you can get the site down to 1MB pretty easy, if not less.

Untill the 2MB gets sorted, I believe it will stay an issue until internet gets quicker here in Oz.

There are a few tricks to get everything working nice. I'll give my professional advice, take it or leave it really(if you want help, I'm still happy too).

My stats: 28secs to load a post while logged in(shift+F5 for a full reload), 7.7secs when using my browsers cache.

- Move the website into Australian soil. You currently have 300ms latency to brissy. A $10 a month VPS will do the trick perfectly. This is the auzzie VPS provider I use. http://www.ransomit.com.au/

- Optimise the CSS and JS files with a joomla! plugin. Something like this: http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/jch-optimize

- Consider running a cacher on the front of the site, or configure the web server to agressively cache assets like images etc... I've used varnishd before to acheive great results cahcing assets for logged in users

- MySQL tunning and lots of it. A properly tunned and configured database server has magic results!

- I know google might be brining revenue in, by the syndication from my prosepct is killing the speed as well.

I'm not the best fisherman in the world... But I'm a very good geek and know my stuff.
