Lucky Few

I cant understand why there is so few who reap the rewards of fishing NPD. Saturday morning yesterday and only three people at the gate, 2 boats and one yak. People are so reluctant to pay $100 to be able to fish one of the best fisheries around. This place will be open to the public in the next year or so and they can thank the members of the PRFMA boating access scheme for the money they have paid over the last 17 years that was used to stock the dam. Ah well all the more for us till this happens.

On a better note on a not so cold, not so hot and not so windy day, I managed 58 bass trolling, jigging and some bait fishing. Most were small and not worthy of a pic. Managed to see a couple of deer in the grass, although all you can see in the pic is antlers above the grass.

Needing a dedicated electric only boat is a 'put-off' I think, Dino.

Horses for courses. Anyone who just likes the occasional fish has plenty of other fresh water options for free not to far away where they can use their bow mounts without removing their petrol motors,  or go where they can camp and use their outboards.

Serious fisho's like the close convenience for regular trips and the cost of permits / electric only boats are worthwhile as they make many trips.

With the changes to the SIP scheme where Fisheries are going to let large amounts of the SIP money be diverted to spending other than for fingerlings, I think the golden age of freshwater fishing is just about gone.

At the moment SEQwater is trying to work out what to do with NPD, As they are wanting to open it up to the public. To many groups are wanting different things for the dam. At this moment it is ONLY being opened up for paddlecraft to the public. Undecided is areas, are electric motors allowed, are tinnies with electric motors allowed. These discussions are all still underway, hell they havnt even got a launch site yet after 5 years. One thing is for certain, there will be no petrol motors allowed.

With all the new sips dams and the change in the allocation method, NPD's share of the bucket has effectively halved.

When the BAS scheme ceases, the stocking rates will drop even further.

Hopefully, more sips dam will meant more sip purchases and a bigger bucket.

Today would have been a cracker on NPD weatherwise.

Where else in Australia is there a stocked dam within 60ks of a capital city.where you can practically guarantee not donutting i think that i have had around 4 donuts in last 10 years and that would equate to around 1000 trips.

Then you have the security of having secure parking so you know your trailer will still be there when you come back to the ramp

Your own picnic tables at the ramp.

No drongos in jet skis of doof doof boats

The next round of permits will commence to be sold in Mid August

When you factor of fuel costs after 3 trips to wivenhoe you would be way in front financially.

My tally for the last month is over 400 bass and reckon Dino would be far in front of that.

Cheers
