queensland Land Based Spinning

Hey guys. A group of us are into Land Based Spinning with spoons, jigs, plugs etc and are looking to do a trip to North East QLD targeting GT / mackerel etc off the beach / rocks. We specifically dont want to do a charter of sorts and are more looking at a fishing adventure where we can explore a couple places by 4x4, move around a bit, while camping. Its a difficult question to ask, as a fishing spot is somewhat secret. We are more after an area where we can do this type of fishing, where we could possibly expect to catch and release any of those species. Really appreciated. Thanks.

Some great options for you. North Stradbroke Island has some great headlands at Point Lookout. The beaches are 4WD only but the headlands are accessible in any car. 

Moreton Island is also perfect for you. Plenty of beach and rock options with plenty of camping spots too. It has lots of 4WD options. 

Frazier island is a bit further north but totally worth the effort. The beaches and headlands are fantastic fishing platforms. Heaps of 4wd options as well as accommodation.

Thanks Drop Bear. We are going to Fraser week after next for 4 days. Staying at Cathedrals. A couple mates of mine have just been have caught mackerel on slide baits.

We are going to throwing slugs, lures etc into the deep. Hopefully get something.

If you have a drone take it with you you can drop baits out deeper.... Hope the PM helped champ...

Try Lucinda jetty north of Ingham it goes alright some times

Palm Cove jetty just north of Cairns. Rocky headlands between Cairns and Port Douglas. Both fish better throwing metal in winter though.
