I had more luck bringing the orchids back this year and have some more coming...

And @fishingnut what do you call these? Had this bunch up from among some other bulbs. I have been here for 2 years + now and never seen them so conditions must be right. I would like to encourage them though.

They are hippeastrum, @Angus. Generally once you have them, you have them for keeps.  Do you know what your purple ones are called as I have a few of those?

I will def keep the area tended. The was built in 1912 so there are often things popping up. The Frangapani tree they are under has had agapanthas and other random bulbs appear as well.

Thanks @Dinodadog. Based on that I googled and found the common name is moth orchids. Think I will use that, it is a bit easier to get the tongue around (the words not the flower).
