You can complete the survey here -> http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4096218/Bait-Preferences
Thanks!

Hi John,
Sure thing.
We pack our maggots in plastic containers with coco-peat which has a few advantages over the traditional peat-moss, namely being that it keeps the maggots moist so that they maintain their size from time of purchase up until they're on the hook. We then pop them inside an express-post bag for next day delivery.
Hope that clarifies things,
Cheers,
Caitlin

Thanks for that - I was just curious how they get through the postal system. I see you specialise only in freshwater live bait so I wouldn't be much help with the survey.

No problems at all, within Australia it's perfectly fine to ship live bait (as long as they're packaged properly!). As for our live bait, it's actually suitable for a wide array of both fresh and saltwater catches! I'd encourage you to take the quiz and try out the bait next time you're out and see how it performs :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for you offer, Caitlin. I hope a few members take up your survey.

I must admit that for me, the  cycle of life can be amusing at times. A few years ago the Admin/mods went through the site thoroughly and de-maggotted the place and now we have the offer for free maggots.

Thanks Caitlin. What sort of saltwater fishing would maggots be good for?

Hi Caitlin,

I did the survey and subscribed but discount code didn't work for me. Perhaps I did something wrong. I'm really keen to try some maggots in Wynnum.

Thanks

Hi John,
Saltwater fish that have been shown to love maggots are: bream, mullet, garfish, whiting, pinkies, flathead, leather jacket, parrot fish, mackerel, salmon, trevally and small mulloway up to 40cm

Wow, that is interesting that the pelagics like Mackerel and Trevally take them. Have you guys had a good reception with saltwater fishos since you started the business, or are you just starting out?

Hi John, still 'testing the waters' so to speak and trying to get our particular Spikes into as many fishers hands as possible to see how they perform out in the field. Would love to hear your feedback, if you take the survey and get a free pack of bait, and hear how they performed on your saltwater trip!
Cheers!!

Thanks Caitlin, I'll give it a go. I reckon they will be killer on baitfish like gar etc. Let you know how they go.

I have a plan for the Maggots now. I will let you know how they go but hoping to catch Gar. I know they will catch bream too. Not sure about some of the species you listed there. Perhaps small mackerel in the UK but I cant see a Spanish having a crack :)

Thanks for getting involved and look forward to seeing how you go with the Gar. Success stories for fishing with this bait come from all around the world, you're right, and we're keen to see the variety they're suitable for locally around Australia.

Will you be checking this thread from time to time? Also are you expecting to expand to other types of bait?

I'll be checking back, but it'd be great if you could contact us directly at info@spikebait.com, we'd love to hear how you go! Cheers
