Spinnaker Sound is the ramp l use the most. Did you have a lock on it when it was stolen.

I had a 3/8th galvanised chain with a big lock , pricks simply cut the chain off, I know use a trailer lock with the housing that goes over the tow ball,  so far so good, I don't bother going fishing of a night anymore though, I had the trailer purpose built with a centre walkway , ended up buying one standard off the shelf to replace it

When I was crabbing a lot,  it was always on my mind if the trailer would be there when l got back. 

I use the housing over the top, locking it to the tow hitch which is also locked.

I will look closely when I am down the ramp. If someone is un hooking a trailer and putting on another car I will film it and call the cops.

Bastards! What makes it worse is they know just how much trouble this causes when you get back with no trailer for your boat...

Would using a wheel clamp be overkill? I use this at home but don’t see too many in use at boat ramps. Other than hitch locks what else do people do to make their trailer less attractive to thieves?

Also one stolen from Cleveland boat ramp last week. Which I thought was one of the safest ramps. Vmr had it all on camera apparently. In and out in a couple of mins the guy had a trailer lock But they cut it off

Dunno... I guess you would have to buy a trailer if you didn't have a mate with a spare one. It is a major pain. Theft is a nasty crime. I hate it.

Without knowing what type of steel that is, at a guess a good pair of bolt cutters would still.make short work of it

I use one of the wheel clamp ones although admittedly I don't currently use it at the boat ramp (unless I'm doing an overnighter or couple of day trip away like Wave Break). Any opinions on whether they are safe or still able to be cut off/removed?

probably not hard nowadays with 18v battery angle grinders that nearly fit in your pocket. I guess its just the noise but if it only takes a minute I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to do it without anyone noticing
