Trying to fish offshore gold coast can anyone give any tip on fishing here as im new to the area and not having much luck thanks

What are you looking to chase - what type of fishing do you prefer?

If you like mackerel fishing the Spotties should appear on the inshore reefs (Palmy and Mermaid) sometime this month and hang around for a few months at least. You can find the gps marks via google, but if the fish are on just look for the boats!

Thanks im use to reef fishing up north googled heaps spoke to a few people but still get nothing what are the best rigs for bottom bashing

Hey Thodie,

There is a lot of fishing pressure for bottom bashing off the gold coast. Not saying there are no fish but they are hard to find. 

Problem is the bar is awesome and there are a lot of boats. 

Best rigs are a running ball sinker over a double hook with a live bait. you can get snapper, pearlies, cod etc on some of the reefs but again they are pretty heavily worked over. 

Like Marty said Palmy should be firing pretty soon. Spotties are a pretty good option. There are lots of Pelagics around.

Generally have to go far and deep to get a feed of reefies off the Goldie. Pin bar reef and a few pinacles around it was a pretty reliable place. Best bet at this time of year is to chase the pelagics, also get a good run of small black marlin over summer.
