queensland Gold Coast Fishing For Toddlers

Over the Christmas break I'll be down the Gold Coast and wondering where the best spots are for fishing with a toddler. any suggestions greatly appreciated

Somewhere on the Broadwater? Plenty of safe spots for little ones and heaps of sand banks that might hold a flathead or whiting.

Head over the back behind Sea world.. There are many spots to pull in off the main road as you head out towards the sand pumping jetty. Loads of spots in the passage for bream, whiting, flattie and occasional by catch... Have fun mate, time with kids is so precious! ! I'll be taking the kids a few times too but up to Bribie.

Tallebudgera Creek is a really nice spot for a swim and fish with young kids @John. On the southern side.

Some nice sized bream and flattie in here !!! I find pilchard cubes or prawns otherwise soft plastics.

The sandy section on the south side where the bridge crosses.

Access via the Tallebudgera Creek Park on the RHS heading north..

Good little spot where you pick up a few decent sized bream. Maybe a flatty or 2 as well as mangrove jack. Even caught a few whiting

Rocky spot between the 2 water ways is good for bream and jacks. Further down next to the house on the left (if your looking at the cannal on the bridge) there’s a good sandy beach that generally had a flatty or 2 and if you want you can cast back towards the rocks for the flatty and bream.

You beat me to it. This is a fantastic sandy area that is great for a fish and taking small kids. I have caught a stack of Flathead bream and whiting in the shallows here.

I like this spot. Better at low tide as there is more sand. I don't know how the parking will be during the xmas holidays...

That is so cool. Do you mostly use worms? 

That first video is at the mouth of Bums Bay. I spent a lot of time there a few years ago on the set for Pirates. Great spot.

I generally have live yabbies and worms with me. Yabbies can be particularly good in the Nerang River during the day.

Both my kids caught a fish before their first birthday. I held them, they held the rod as I walked through a gutter on Straddie. Sort of a cheat but still fun.

You can put the little kids on to whiting over 40cm land based in the Broadwater.

I would have dropped the camera, knocked the kid to the ground and grabbed the rod....

I really enjoy watching the vids of your kids catching fish @Daryl McPhee.  Reminds of when my kids were little (except yours catch fish).

I had gotten two fish over 40cm myself before Max caught (and tried to lose) that one, so I was comfortable knowing that their were already good fish in the esky.

Drop Bear what were you doing on set of Pirates?? That's awesome! I haven't that particular spot but there used to be a little fish and chip shop near there which is amazing! All fresh fish!

I was decorating the boats and sets. Pretty fun stuff. Lots of sails, blocks, cannons etc.
