  1. Glad to see some hunting reports here as well. Nice. Love my venison and been a while since I had some in the freezer!
  2. Yeah it was not expected. There was a school that size busting bait. Epic fun on a 2-4kg sharpshooter!!! I saw a guy get a cobia under the gateway recently. Made me laugh with all the old Cobia under the indro bridge jokes.
  3. Well I may have been absent but I have been fishing and plan to trickle some varied reports in as I find time. A big quest for me and my bother in law Joel over the last 18 months has been really sussing out shallow water snapper in the bay. We have done well and what is better is we rarely find them where the car parks of boats are. As challenging as it can be the most consistent fishing has come from really finesse set ups displaying small plastics with long pauses. Picture a small prawn or shrimp moving along the rubbly bottom to imagine what the plastic would look like. Anyway some pictures of the better fish with millions of smaller but still legal fish in between... The biggest one there for me was 76cm which I consider a good effort on 12lb leader in 3 meters of water. Obviously a lot more than snapper in the bay and this technique brings in a lot of by catch... Note the queenie actually swallowed a 30cm squire which got lodged in its throat... As for locations there is no consistency here geographically. We have been fishing a wide range (away from other boats if we can). Or we are looking for is either rubbly bottom (does not need to be much) or bait or in a perfect world both! Angus
  4. Hey there AFO. It has been a while. Due to a combination of a few things I have been AWOL for a while. But keen to get back reporting and sharing. I will post a few reports of what I have been up to soon. Most notably I have been really enjoying the fact my little girl Aurelia has the bug I get out with her a bit now land based and in the kayak. Anyway look forward to sifting through the copious unread reports and trying to get through 3-4 years worth of unanswered PMs To the next gen of anglers!
  5. If you cannot fish the Classic but want to support the bay please come down and check out the Wynnum Manly Seafood Festival this weekend! Raffle tickets will be available for the boat (among other things) at this event and there will be 13 seperate seafood stalls (fresh and cooked) as well a few sweets and treats. Oh and yes, courtesy of the Waterloo Hotel there will be a bar

  7. Thank you for the kind words ad so sorry about your dad. Angus
  8. @jon can you pick where those bigger GT's were schooling up? Angus
  9. He is rovering. Some sort of stomach ailment. Treatment over there was intesne intibiotics so by the time we got him back to Australia to a hospital we could not pin point the cause. Also since he was so sick and immune system low and not able to take tablets he also got malaria Anyway that is also being treated and he is well on his way to recovery. Already asked me when we are going back for revenge Angus
  10. Whoops forgot spot tails! In particular Chris's cracker...
  11. Biggest jack was my 66cm I believe.
  12. What a trip! Not exactly the one I wanted but there are stories none the less. To explain briefly without going into to much personal detail 1.5 days into the triup and my dad got extrmely sick forcing me to leave and take him back to Kimbe for care. Gutted. I was happy to write it off as I have enjoyed the experience before. I was devastated for him as he was having such a good time. He managed one small black bass for his efforts. Thus I am left with not a lot to report except images. I am sure @John would be happy to fill in many details. Points of interest were the bass were challenging to target due to an early arrival of white bait but some creative use of soft plastics enticed many to bite. As far as hard bodies go trends moved back to my first trip experience with FCL Labo lures killing. I do not have heaps of time to write paragraphs so will add some pictures now and more text later or reply to questions as they come. Visit to the village: Black Bass (Have so many more but how many can you see?): Other Lutjanus species for the trip: Trevally: Questions? I have so many more pictures of bass, cod, randoms, jacks... just trying to choose highlights.
  13. Yes! That is all I can think to say right now... Yes!!!
  14. I have definitely not seen a report in a while but that can sometimes be a good thing! Let us know how you go?
  15. Yeah I totally understand that. I believe personally we have turned a page on this. But I remember all to well.
  16. Hahaha no I don't think so... That must have been one of the first if not the first Brisbane River Classics...
  17. Great input guys... Some additons to my first list... Good title Food pictures @Dinodadog not trying to convert mate. I just know some people will enjoy the chat and I ofted get asked "what should I report"? Angus
  18. So after such a increase in reports lately (probably due to @Drop Bear setting such a high bar) I thought it would be really worth asking this question... We all write in different ways and with differnet styles but what do we as readers want? My style changes massively depending whether I am on phone or computer with a lot more effort going into computer reports. It can be a despondent feeling putting in a solid chunk of time to a report to only have 1 or 2 comments... It is not a vain thing, just a hope the info is appreciated. So what do we want? Lots of pictures? Lots of narrative? (a fishing story). Lots of information? (lure types, tides, etc). Successful and failed missions? Locations (this is always an interesting point of contention) What else is there? For me I like a narrative, but do appreciate hearing about gear and how it goes that I am unaware of. Pictures is a plus of course but would prefer a report sans pictures than no report at all. Locations: I am happy to know the hows and whys of fishing, and try and work out locations for myself. I think giving away spots prevents a lot of anglers reporting as (and we have all seen it) other try and pressure them for spots. Although I am fairly free with my information I respect that some people have put a lot of effort into finding and working out spots. A good report with pictures and no location is the fuel I need to get out and explore so I will take it! Please discuss Angus
  19. Hahahaha. Correction... MM. I would like to see a 40cm bream lure. SX400?
  20. My mate catches a lot of bream and cod walking the bike path around KP. i have joined him a few times. Just cast parallel to the rock walls and around hr pontoons and pilons. Little bream lures 40cm to 60cm work a treat. The walk opposite botanical gardens before you hit the cliffs is gold. This is almost needing another thread now.
  21. Not always easy for anyone even when they have the knowledge mate. Lots of land based options though... have a search of the forum... Land based Brisbane River bream, flatties cod. Land based whiting lota. Bass north pine and lake k Flatties land based under the hornibrook bridge Tilapia and carp bulimba creek Even fishing plastics around manly harbour. All viable options but nothing is or ever is guaranteed.
  22. Chasing carp? Or anything?
  23. I have had this happen where they are thick but don't seem to be feeding. If there are ducks I have found in the past that carp (and tillies) are often in preference of bread. They just get used to the ducks left overs I guess. Angus
  24. I do a bit of a lot but I voted land based coastal and rocks as between Straddy and casurina this does make up a lot of my fishing and is an area I can actually help people with tips and tricks as opposed to being just a deckie so to speak. Angus
