  1. there is a mob that will tow you from anywhere, i have forgotten the name of them , we looked into this with another club, as it seemeb to be the better option and cheaper too. as we tend to travel from the gold coast to gladstone. bein a member in brisbane coast guard will not entitle you to a tow up at moolloolabaaaaaaaa. but felix, do as per the dealer told you mate.that way if any come backs, the dealer is to blame, and not some guy from a fishin website told ya to to this n that. experience will come. but if your new to boating, do as the dealer tells you ask him all the questions ya want, and dont leave if ya dont fully understand what he told you, just ask again. every 1 has to start somewhere.
  2. the chimes of a boat, i like to be around an inch, just enough to get ya toes under to climb into the boat. my trailer makes no noises at all only when hitting a pot hole or similar. forget the dealers for setting up your trailer, i think sometimes they have less of an idea then the owners of the boat. see if you can drag your boat around to somebody's place or ask ppl nicely to maybe give you a hand setting up your trailer, as i beleive the front of the boat should be raised, or higher than the back of the boat, when on the trailer. your live bait tank question ! did you fill it up? i imagine you did, or it wouldn't have water in it, but if it's getting into the hull, that would be a concern. rob
  3. hmmm you want a light jigging reel, yet it has whatever drag capabilities, the prob i find with these reels is they are heavy, look for a light jigging reel, along the lines of a daiwa oceano, good drag, not fancy, light, designed as a light jigging reel, as for the fish it can handle, well, thats up to the driver i believe. and will easily handle the fish you mentioned. rob.
  4. my mut that some have got to know! chase [img size=640]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/test_dogs_001-e908c16e54c616e3e4ee3aeeb3fa6ce2.jpg
  5. maybe some ground rules too, along with some on water coaching eg deckies do a share of the driving! that type of thing if skippers are up for it. neg beacons, passing other boats, being passed, just a simple thing like turning around can be a disaster, without looking behind. that sort of stuff.
  6. can see your strugglin there!
  7. i don't think it's done on purpose, as most of the good deckies know what to expect, and those not to familiar with owning a boat know some of the costs involved, hence the question is put out there for deckies, to help in a small way with costs and a good chat or whatever the case may be, and a hand with the boat at the ramp. and hopefully fill the ice box for a good feed, or to simply take photo's of fish caught!
  8. Travis wrote: yeah sorry bout mot cleaning the boat after the comp robbo normally takes a good day to clean it up, i don't expect it from anybody i take.
  9. this is just a guide, so don't shoot me! in another club, if i'm deckie for the day and we go from manly say, in say a 625 cruisecraft explorer i'll chip in $80-$120 for fuel. keep in mind some boats will have 240 litres of fuel or more, and not a place to run out of fuel. and if traveling is involved, the amount should should be taken into consideration. this is an example of a trip offshore out the front here. too be quite honest i would rather not go if i don't contrubute something.
  10. if and when i get an invite to go deckie i will be early instead of late help prep the boat, even if it's the day before sort out bait needed as skipper has boat hooked up whatever costs are involved, it's half be very careful of sinkers hitting the boat, a pet hate of mine! help clean and sort out the boat afterwards and i mean clean, the boat gets gutted, everything washed and aired out and last is a sincere thank you for the trip. rob

  12. what about a jet sprint boat, mesinine floor ova the motor, hmmmm. a 750hp 410 cuber 18 degree engine. imao dragging a lure around the shallow course, heh i just got a strike, oh well.vrooooommmmmmm.
  13. wasn't that crash at the river mouth booty, another 1 years before that 1, up near indroopilly somewhere, driver and 2 occupants were killed. oh by the way, the driver was 16 and the boat, i believe had a 200 on like a 15/16 foot boat, i personally believe it was inexperience that caused the accident. the driver was female. . . not the way the boat was set up. i personally believe it is better to overpower a boat rather than vice versa.
  14. i can say that dealers are obligated to go to the max hp recomended by the manufacturer, but will not fit a larger hp motor to the boat in question, and if buying new, the motor has to be fitted by an authorised brand dealer, or risk fitting it yourself and no warranties. the police have the power to give you a whopping fine if they find out the boat is overpowered, all due to a boat crash years ago where lives were lost in a single boat crash in the brisbane river. then all new laws were rushed through to try and eleviate this from happening again, and totally agree. after watching people try and drive the ski race boat i had years ago, i can understand why, driving a boat at speed requires more than pointing it where you want to go and push the throttle down.
  15. got me there heidi, i only went with friends, they only fish for jacks, i can tell you,it's only about 50 mtrs to the nerang river and the other side of the bridge is a corner that goes right, and from memory there should be a big white boat on the nerang river side and across from that are units that i would fish from the balcony,1 of those places i know how to get to, but hard to tell where it is, however i do know there is a beach about 500 mtrs on the nerang from where the bridge is.here we go.it's the first bridge west from the gold coast highway, my ref says m14, remember the bend...... cheers rob. anytime ya need a navigator just oi me lol good luck ay
