Hey mate the river is fishing pretty average at the moment there are a few salmon about but no where near as thick as previous years. They had the flood gates open for months earlier in the year and the river hasn't fired up. You can still catch fish you'll just work hard for them. Gulp shrimp in natural colours are the best choice

Im not sure how it came about here but I would suggest petitions would be a great place to start and using the Fitzroys booming fishing tourism industry as an example of what 2 years can do. Mackay has a small nfz and it is working too

No commercial fishing at all

The net free zone means all commercial fishing has been banned in the Fitzroy river it has been like this for 2 years and fish numbers are amazing and has really helped Rockhampton tourism @Drop Bear the only downside is bull shark numbers growing but small price to pay as they're fun to catch too got a nice one on Handline Saturday was great fun @christophagus im yet to catch a Jew here but my mate got a nice black Jew as by catch last week. @kmcrosby78 bit hard not to smile when you can catch fish like this ten minutes from your doorstep

So the threadies are on the chew at the moment and my god the fishing is fun. This week I went out three times for a number of them best going 1070 was nice to crack the metre mark. Fish were caught on gulp shrimp and live mullet/prawns. As a bit of fun I've reverted to fishing with Handline when using live bait and it's been awesome!! I'll say it yet again I Love The Net Free Zone

I read this thread from the beginning seems to be alot of non existent members now but from alot of it people seem to take deckies because they want their fishing trips funded or labour for cleaning the boat whilst I do agree with contributing I think its important to remember youre going fishing anyway so long as they bring their own gear or alert you to what they do or dont have. If you are taking someone who doesnt have a boat youre doing a kind deed. Dont make an offer to take someone fishing because you want to cut your trip costs or bought a boat you cant afford to take out, take someone fishing because you want to take someone fishing, give someone an experience they wouldnt get otherwise. If you are a good host im sure offers for compensation or labour will come and if not eh you were going anyway and you done a good deed. @rayke1938 is the best host.

@Panther that's not solid. It's right angle aluminium three pieces welded together. It's very light. Doesn't need to be I also needed the raising so the motor sits above the bow rails. Was a very difficult fit on a runabout with the windscreen opening bow rails to contend with

Look at the haswing helmsman gps spot lock for under a grand can't go wrong

I had this done on mine it's a 2016 stessco it looks mint and is very clean. Was done by a friend I can ask if he would be keen on another job
