I was outgunned by my neighbour yesterday by 1 fish a yella. We both managed several nice sized bass biggest going 50cm, all on s/baits. Started early to miss the heat, but fish didn't start until 7 am.

Fish while you can

I have a preference for vortex s/baits , because they cast better and further than all the other s/baits and this is essential when casting from the bank. From a boat you don't have to cast so far, but I still stick to vortex or bassman. Colour yesterday was purple/glimmer, gold, boney, all in 5/8oz

Hey Dino,

Good to see you got some mate.

I headed out there Sunday morning....horrible conditions. The wind seemed to be blowing across the dam but no where else.Hard enough to keep blowing my hat off. I was standing in knee deep water and waves were hitting me and splashing me in the face.

Stopped fishing after an hour and met up with the ranger.......had a very interesting talk to him. Interesting things happening, very good for us;)

Brian it takes me 20mins to get there looking for a house a bit closer. Ha ha

LGM I use the wind to my advantage, make sure its behind you and cast slightly upwards and it goes for miles, takes foever to wind in.

Yeh mate, that would be the usual plan but it was just one of those days when the dam was at it's worst, to get the wind to my back would have meant more walking  better off infront of the telly I thought.

I'm happy to see you gave them curry the next day though.

The wind sure can be your friend alright....we were casting big slickrigs up at Awoonga with a really strong wind at our backs and a lot of times they were hitting the bank, and this was using heavy gear that usually casts like crap. The wind grabbed those lures and they just sailed throught the air. Sometimes I wish my normal lures cast as well as our slugs hey ?
