Like Chubbs said the brisbbane river is gold. Not only are there plenty of quality fish for the more experienced, but the catfish polulation in pletiful and easy to stumble across and highly entertaining for kids.

All you need is a simple set up and a stuardy bait. I like mullet or squid. This will also put you in with a reasonable chance of catching one of numerous other species from cod to bream.

If you have a sift through the Brisbane Rivers and Creeks section you will find a wealth of info regarding local fishing how to's and where to's.

Thank you. I have decided we will go around the Brighton area on Saturday for the high tide which hopefull will be around 11am (the brisbane bar is at 10:51 so I don't know how far along it will be that way or what that really means - I'm still learning - so anyone who might have any suggestions on what bait to use would be great.

I've got soft plastics etc and live worms?
