Storm damage photo's

Well thought a new thread for the photo's from last nights storm was worthwhile.

These are the shots of my back yard, and my "winged" shed. copped a glancing blow from the top of the tree.

Staying home today to turn it all in to fire wood.

Note the neighbor was very lucky, all of that could have easily gone in the other direction onto his brand new shiny house he built 1m from my back boundary on acreage.

Hi Feral,

Quite messy,

but thankfully no house or major material damage.

Heard on radio Ferny Grove copped it bad?

Feel for any one who copped major damage,to property at this time,I finally got my car in today for repairs, from hail storm that went through Ippy in September,3 weeks they`ll have it for.

So i imagine there will be a back up of insurance claims from last nights storms.

cheers

Our place at moggill. Copped a big gum tree branch. I was in the shower directly below where it hit at the time of impact. Thought it was just a really, really close thunderclap:unsure: ...until i stepped out, noticed water dripping through the exhaust fan, looked up and saw daylight through the fan.

Wow sorry to see the damage guys...hope everyone was insured.

No damage at my place (albion) just a heap of rain. I did fly up the nearby hill to try & get it brewing. Its one of those...see how good your nerves are type things when the strikes start coming in close.

I do a bit of storm photography & that was the first time ever that i have watched a storm move across the city...stop dead in its tracks & then get sucked backwards (west) into the main storm. Unbelievable to watch...it got sucked back across brissy city twice as fast as it went over.

Maybe that was why it was so severe.

dogsbody: I'm not far from you - windsor

Looked like it was coming right for us, then hit the brisbane dot ont he radar and slipped NW of us (like they normally do)

But yeah, certainly plenty of rain.

Wow. at least no one from here (that we've heard of) has been hurt. Property can always be repaired/replaced, lives cannot.

We saw some carnage out our way. We're in Upper Kedron which is not far from the Gap. Trees everywhere. Not much damage to my house luckily, just a few tiles missing which I found and replaced. Had a bit of mopping up to do though. [img size=411]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/25Oct_08_009.jpg

just click on free user if you dont have a rapidshare account. or pm and i can email... there's a few more of the storm front and a few more lightning strikes, such as:

notice the lightning on crane:

now notice the lean of the crane:

I have just spent the last 2 days cleaning up the trees that went down at my place (Narangba). I moved my wifes new prado from under the carport into the shed. It would have copped a tree through the back end if i didn't. still have to clean up all the bark and other crap from the neighbours gardens. bloke next door said we got 130mm and then another 50mm as of this morning. the BP at the end of settlement road went under. and apart from a tonne of trees down in the reserve behind me there is a trampoline wrapped around a tree..

and as for the pool

I worked in the Gap most of the day & night (emergency services worker). I can not believe the size of the trees snapped off in gap creek road ! There are areas that have the trunks standing and all the branches twisted off. The odd bit is that 99% of the trees that are down, have fallen in a westward direction which i thought really strange.

That was one incredibly powerful storm. The only words to describe up the top of Payne rd is like looking at the aftermath of a cyclone. I really thought only a cyclone could be that ferocious.

went to a mates place at brookfield last night for a few brews, it looks pretty bad along rafting ground road, theres tress and crap every where, one guys white picket is about 600m down the road from the property, the road itself was over 2m deep at the brookfield road end for at least 300m 5am on the monday morn, i went through a water crossing and it was still up to my headlights in a 4x4 rodeo. mate also said neighbour couple houses up lost a horse trailer big enough to carry 3 horses and a horse. he has followed the creeks as far as he can get to by car and foot and still hasnt found either.

If anyone is interested what it looked like during the storm up in the gap then have a look at this you tube clip.

Wait until 1.35 sec to see it really turn on
