Which reel to go with?

Howdy all

Looking at getting a new reel and have narrowed it down to two, but just cant decide between them.

1. 1000 Stradic FI (New model)

2. 1000 Twin Power FB (Old model)

The twin power is going for $250 and the stradic is about $25 cheaper

What would be better ??

thats a decision only you can make. if it were me id go the twinpower or get a jdm version of it which is better then the audm version, stradic isnt that great imo

Yeh, it's a tough choice. I got the Twin power, but I got a 2500 size. As your getting a 1000 size, you'd be targeting fish like bream using light lines right? Because the light lines on such a small diameter spool get wind knots far easier than other sizes, I would probably got for the stradic seeing as it has the lip propulsion thing which supposibly minimises wind knots and allows for longer casts.

good point there about the wind knows cowfish, i will be using 1-2lb line. So the stradics with the new lip thingy ma bob might be the go.

Completely different application but I have been using a 5000 FI stradic with 20lb and 30lb braid for offshore plastics and slug throwing and it has stopped some pretty good fish. (It also stopped a seaturtle that ate a plastic and a 1.5m bronze whaler, both safely released)

I just opened it to inspect and service it today and after about 30 odd offshore outings it was pristine. Zero salt and corrosion.

All round very happy with it.

hi, imo go the twinpower its one of the best shimano, the newer style stradic reels are crap lots of problems with these, either go the older version twinpower or the OLDER style stradics as these are far better then the newer version.
