Fiji!

Yes, I also am heading off to FIJI (i land on the 11th Jan)

It looks like an awesome place, and will be taking the fly rod, however was thinking about getting a 3 or 4 peace travel rod for spinning (about 8kg?)

I am not a big guy and can't really see getting a massive rod because i just wont be able to use it.

So anyone have any suggestions? And were would i have to go (in Brisbane i hope!) to get it?

Im heading that way in March mate:woohoo: I will be doin a charter from our resort so not taking any gear over, I believe you can hire gear there if ya dont wanna take ya own.

Goodluck on the fishing in Fiji, the family & I went in March last year we stayed at the Warwick resort, brilliant stay, lovely kind people who love looking after the kids. I wanted to do the charter unfortunately the weather was unkind at the time... oh well, there is always next time... best of luck

hi, i just got back from fiji. Surface action was pretty quiet although most days tuna were bustign up everywhere. Only landed 2 Trevallies on poppers all though i lost many others including one beast that would of gone about 1.2m. Plenty of good fish on the reef at niht other wise else pretty quiet.

rather than a travel rod, take a two piece in a pvc tube- like a water pipe. the last time i traveled it worked extremely well and was easy to handle.

Many a times has the PVC pipe come in handy!

Yeah you are right though, it might be quicker/easier and cheaper to get a two piece instead.
