queensland Cabbage Tree Creek 28/01/09

Taking advantage of a break in the weather Faulked and I hit our local creek today for a mixed bag.

We hit the water at about 7.00am and trolled with the electric for a while with no success.

With the lures getting no love we pulled up beside one of the trawlers and bought some green prawns in the hope of getting a bream or two to put a bend in our rods :fishing:

Anchored up and drifted our lightly weighted baits into some deeper water that normally holds fish...and proceeded to land about a dozen bream and the same in catfish. Other highlights were Faulked having a great little battle with an agro cod (approx 40cm) and I caught my first ever Jewfish on a lure.

I was hopping a metal blade lure back into and accross the current from shallow to deep when I got a small bump and came up tight on this little fella.

He went 39cm and was only the second ever Jew I have caught (and my new PB:blush:)

We trolled some more but the lures went un-touched for the rest of the morning.

All up it was a good little session. Thanks to the good old prawns we got some action and the Jewie on lure was an unexpected but welcome bonus.

It's an ebay lure called a Vendetta Blade (not on sale anymore) The lure I got my PB Yella on last year at NPD was the same type, just the bigger model.

loverly mornings fishing rocket its allways a pleasure to take you out hope the pickie with your jew came out i was worried about the sun behind you

a big thanks to ray and feral for their kind donations to help my ellectric boat come together it works a treat guys the batteries powered us around quite happilly all morning

And interesting to see the fish hooked up on the front treble, not the back one!!I would have thought the jew would have taken the bait from behind!!

Sounds like it was a great session though - and well done on a nice jew!!
