So i've recently snapped the tips off my shimano stella and sahara rods. Can anyone recommend a good place or person to get these rods repaired. I'm a uni student so money is always an issue, lol. I was going try and fix them but i've never done it before and if its cheap enough to get a good job done then i dont mind paying.

Thanks heaps guys

Hey Dan, If you want to fix the rods yourself it's easy and inexpensive.

Clean up the broken end with a bit of sandpaper, or even a nailfile will do.

Take it down to BCF and match up a tip guide that slides neatly onto it. That will cost about $3.

Get your hands on a hot melt glue stick. The ones in the tackle shops are a little overpriced, I use the cheapie ones from Kmart or Woollies. Gently heat the glue stick with a lighter and apply the melted glue to the end of the rod. Slide the new guide on and align it. When it's cool, peel off the excess glue with your fingernail.

If you gently warm (not heat!)the rod guide first, it stops the glue setting too fast.

All up you should get out of it under $5.

IMO I wouldn't used that heat up glue. It's not the strongest and sets rather quickly. I'd use araldite. It's farrr stronger and remains usable for like 10 minutes + rather than 15secs.
