Hi everyone, i'm looking to try walking some freshwater creeks for bass and maybe cod tomorrow, can anyone point me in the direction of some good places to try, with reasonably good access to walk the banks? I've heard some decent reports about Stanley river but I wouldn't know where to start. I've looked it up on google but it looks like its pretty long and its hard to tell where to get access. Any help or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Anywhere Stanley mate. Its all good. Just find a place with water access and start walking the bank. Be prepared to cover some ground though as you will find like 5 water holes in a row that seem empty and then one where you will get 5 hook ups.

The bass in there are not massive, biggest I have seen was 35cm but they go hard in the shallow water and there are no shortage of snags to contend with. The bass usually hit smaller lures. Last time I was up there I cleaned up with an SX40.

The Yellas are dirty fighters. They prefer larger profile (chunkier) lures, however they will hit smaller lures as well.

You dont need anything with a big bib as all the water is pretty shallow. So just concentrate on holes and structure and you should do fine!

Good luck!

Its such an awesome looking place so make sure you take your camera!

Had a look on google earth, does the stanley run all the way to sommerset? It doesn't specify on maps either. Earth takes me to the section near peachester road. It appears to snake all the way thru cedarton and stanmore then on to sommerset, is that right? If so which suburb would be the best to start with?
