New Combo

Sportsfans,

Ventured to the tinnie & tackle show yesterday (after perusing the 40% off all rods at Anaconda over at everton park... some heavy petting with a daiwa Sol rod there...:blush: )

Again got a sol in the hands at the boat show, but it just felt a tad heavy for what i wanted...

what I was looking for was a slightly shorter and more flexible (use) bream rod 6'6" or thereabouts. current one is 7'1" and the length can be a hassle sometimes.

also wanted a new reel to match, slightly bigger than the 1500/2500 that i have now, with some more BB's and a bit more grunt........

So i ended up with the following ;

6'6" Strudwick SicstikPro

Abu Garcia 604ALB

Spooled the Abu with 4kg Platypus Lo-Stretch backing and Sunline PE 6lb braid over the top.

Have loved Abu's ever since i was a kid, a cardinal was the first spinning reel i ever owned....

Was the deal at the show good? How much? (No problem if you don't want to say )

Was the line spooled for ya? Did the line and backing come free as you bought the rod and reel?

Reel was $99 and the rod $120. Bought from diff places so no exra deal.

did the line myself, 500yrds Lo-sretch for 15 bucks and the Sunline was $30 i think....
