Who believes it is alright for an angler to keep a trophy fish. Purely for the purpose of hanging on your wall.

I guess... Kinda crappy tacky decore having stuffed $hit on the walls though if you ask me.. Take a nice photo and have it blown up and framed if she's that much of a keeper. The memory will still last a lifetime and that fish might go on to create 1000 other little fishies for future generations along with maybe being caught by someone else and becoming their trophy fish.

Must say that I agree with Chris with taking a photo especially now that with digital cameras and phone cameras being so easy to take photos whilst you are out and about. Never been a fan of anything stuffed and mounted besides myself

I've always found the taxidermy thing a little too "texas chainsaw massacre" for mine. I'm with the photo too!

I think keeping fish for trophies is for people with small penises. A photo is enough.

From what I have heard, taxidermy is ridiculously expensive and most fish mounted on the wall these days are just models made from a cast.

I believe if ya get a fish that big its lived for a very long time and deserves to carry on living,as the above posts say take a pic and hang that on ya wall.I have never been a fan on trophy catches whether it be animal or fish.

but in saying that my cuz had a mould of a 217 kg blue marlin done a while ago ....a fella called scotty mann from batemans bay does it professionaly .....

must admit its impressive to check out and a fantastic job done .... but ....

stuffing fish aint my scene but that striped marlin would look good on a takle shop wall . The bloke did a good job at air brushing the fish.

Sorry maxi just looked like a a stripy with them bluey strips and goldie sides. hey havent blue marlin got silver side and bely with a completly silver anal fin and a blueish ventral fin

pelagics normally have the ability to change colour (as do most fish)

ive seen marlins light up in 2 seconds from dull browny to the most vivid blues and purples you can ever imagine.. the stripes on the true striped marlin are the most vivid ..then the blues are a bit less... then the black has a shadow , in comparrison to the striped ... but it all depends on how turned on they are as to what colour configuration they appear .....

i would prefer to release the big one and have a fiberglass replica done for the trophy room. A good digital photo helps as the guy making the replica can try and copy the exact colours of your fish.

in the states you can have multiple body shapes for the same size bass so you can get a replica that most fits your catch.

i think it is ok and when it is done right it looks good what is the diferance betwen killing the fish to eat and killing the fish than getting ot stuffed than eating it i got all the meat back from my fish they just use the skin when it is properly done
