Seaway Today

Hit the seaway again this morning, not as many boats as i was expecting, which was nice.

Went around to the north side of the north wall and starting casting a variety of slugs and slices in to the swell.

The mullet was foul hooked, but the bonito and tailor smashed the smallest slug i had in my box.The next boat landed a massive mullet and a couple of bonito.Came away very pleased awsome fighting fish on light tackle.

Cheers

would have been fun for sure. did you try your new feathery lures on em?

Rocket

No i did'nt Rocket, slight design problem they are not heavy enough to cast a good distance. Back to the drawing board, maybe a small lead sinker on the end!!!.

Cheers for comments

hello bri.. try a cast-a-bubble in front of the feather. its a hollow oval shaped bobber u fill partially with water. then cast. use a leader and a swivel and bead. we use this rig for bonito fishing. the leaders can be whatever length you feel most comfortable with. please look at the illustration.

also here is what i mean by a cast-a-bubble.

we also use it like a popper the bead creates noise with the splash then the feather floats down in the water column slowly like a dying baitfish. this allows u to get your really light feather out to some distance. hope it helps

we use it for dry flys as well. nice for trout season. the bubbles come as small as an inch for the really small flies. and as large at 2inch(5.8 cm) for the larger saltwater lures. we use them with feathered hooks to cast them way the heck out there. then pop reel slack count to 10 so as to let the feather drop. then repeat. hope it helped brotha

p.s. forgot to add the count down depends on the length of the leader. for 3 to 4 foot i usually give it a 6-8 count. also depends if they are hitting surface 2-3 foot leader. or a lil lower 4-6 foot leader.

All set up and ready had the floats in my bag of goodies and put on a brass tube fly.

Bring on the weekend.
