reels off ebay???

Recommended Posts

With the dollar in the toilet at the moment, not to many good deals on new brand name stuff on Ebay at the moment. The 2nd hand stuff is getting expensive as well, people are waking up to it!.

No name stuff on Ebay can certainly be good, but it is overpriced as well, I wont pay any more than $25-$30 (including postage), mostly they are going for more than that these days. I'd rather find the few extra bucks and buy a Sienna or similar if I have to pay over $30.

Mo Tackle were selling out their stock of K2 Extremes for $50 a throw, be worth your while to see if they have any left. I've got one and it is a great little reel.

If you know what you are after in a reel and know what they are worth look on ebay, I got most of my reels off there and saved a fair bit.

If you are still up in the air on what to get I would go to a good tackle shop for advice and to have a look and feel of the reel first.

Shimano and Daiwa both have a pretty extensive website that outlines the good parts of their reels. You can get a good look at what the extra money will get you (or not). Google them as well, Daiwa had a bad batch of metal a few years back and a number of reels broke without too much effort (including a sol 2500 i bought).

from my experience, it's not worth buying a reel off ebay unless it is either new or almost new. I've bought expensive shimano overheads off their for what looked like a good price, only to realise after getting it in the mail that the a**hole selling it was flogging it off because of a fault. Makes sense when you think about it, a bloke with low morals is unhappy that his expensive reel isnt working properly so he unloads it to someone else on ebay. A tip on that issue, is threaten to leave them heaps of scathing negative feedback due to the fact that the item description didnt mention anything about the fault. Pretty quick you'll have them giving a refund!

Over from that, if I'm buying a reel between $150 - $400 then I'll buy it from ebay.com (thats the USA version) because I'll end up saving around 25% of what BCF is charging.

Anything over $400 I buy from the shop, because then it comes with an Australian warranty as opposed to the imported stuff from ebay.com which has NO WARRANTY!
