lowrance 350 a sounder/gps plotter

howdy everyone i have a lowrance 350a sounder chartplotter and was woundering how long it take to get a satelite fix for the gps i have only tried it in the backyard as yet and it couldnt lock on to any satelites. should i take the boat for a run to try and pick them up or would there be something else wrong, im not sure on settings for example wgs 84 nemea ect im goin to try and find the manual for it but if anyones got any suggestions it would be appreciated heaps thanks guys

Depends where the GPS reciever is located. Are you under cover when you do it. It the reciever in a good place for reception. also can depend on the cloud cover and weather.

Also can depend on the number of satelites the GPs expects to see for a location.

Mine can be almost immediate and then up to 5 minutes.

If it is the first time it has run for a while or since it lost power it may take quite a while. If it is a really old one then it may take a long time as it may need to update. Sit it out there for half an hour, that should be more than enough.

i just fit the exact same one in the tinny and it hasnt been in for 6 months, it took 15 secs to lecate the first start up and 5 the second go, make sure the leads are round the right way as the nav cable also fits the speed and temp connection :unsure:

apparently every gps has a varioation but i dont know how to work it out im sure its easy... ROB??? i dont use the sounder as i already had one in the boat, the cords should be labelled but just try it without the sonar at all the gps will still work
