hey guys,

my dad just got a boat so we will be spending a lot of time at the mouth of the river and in the bay now. i have discovered one spot that i know works for snapper fishing on a run out tide at the mouth but am looking for a wider range of knowledge for other conditions. has anyone got any good spots, lures, bait, plastics and tides etc... that could help me catch some snapper. if u dont wanna give away ur spot u can PM me and ill return the favour with the spot and techniques i know, hahaa.

thanks in advance, aicheppeee

I was at Tangalooma on Sunday and there were some very nice snapper (about 10-12kilos) being caught just near the wrecks. The only problem is....there are a few people snorkelling in the area around the wrecks, which can be a bit of a pain. The water is deep there as well (approx 11-12 metres) which is surprising considering its not all that far from shore. But give there a go, the atmosphere is great and its a calm place to anchor up for the night.

fish a rod with a light sinker dpending on the tide or current and 1 rod with lead that will get you to the bottom. hold on to the bottom basher and put the lighter rigged rod in the rod holder with a firm drag. pilchards ,squid , cuttlefish ,fresh baits like pike etc and small livies for bait are a good start. i like circle hooks and good trace line like black magic brand for terminal tackle. burley can be old pilchards ,stale bread ,prawn shells ,chook pellets and mix any combination with tuna oil then either drop it in a burley bucket or drop a hand full over the side regularly.
