jigging live bait around the mouth and in the bay?

gday everyone hope you are all staying nice and warm!!!!! was just wondering if anyone ever jigs for live bait around beacons etc in the bay......i know alot get them with cast nets myself included but am curious to know if anyone gets any through jigging?

We used to jig herring from the wharves at Fisherman Island. Mind you, that was about twenty years ago when you could actually fish off the wharves. I imagine the herring would still be there.

There's plenty of places, here's one spot I've tried with success. Good bait size as well.

Plenty of Slimies, Herring and Yakkas around the four beacons usually as well. And assumably the other main shipping beacons as well...

I never knew you could get slimies in the bay. Thought they were only offshore.

Yeh, we got a few at the 4 beacons a year ago or so, but when we sent them out, a bloody dolphin kept taking them So we gave up, took 3 back to Mud Is. and got 2 big hits and a bust off.

Strangly, we havn't got any since :dry: Only Yakka's and Herring

I got a Slimy in the River the other week, so they aren't offshore species.

The Brissy River is a funny River, it's got anything in it. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a few Barra in it
