had a similar problem with mine a while back, my advice is, ring bcf, go in there whatever. get the daiwa phone number, and you send it to daiwa, NOT the store. they buggar you around.[not bcf directly] if still under warranty send the, or a copy of reciept with the reel. as the store in which you bought the reel will only send it forward. by dealing with daiwa direct, you post it and it gets delivered to your door. and any problems get sorted out with you, not 2nd hand imformation.

i had a similar problem with a reel a while back, my advice is to get hold of daiwa's number[ from any tackle shop] give them a call, get their details and you send it to them, not the store. also send a copy of the reciept. and it will be delivered back to your front door. any dealings are done with you. you will not get a refund in any way shape or form. the store can only send the reel to daiwa for repair.

Consumer law is something I am pretty passionate about as I see too many people ripped off with things.

Under the Sale Of Goods Act and Fait Trading if a good or service is a) not fit for the purpose it was intended B) not of merchantible quality, c) not as described (mail order stuff etc) then the consumer in entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. And this is the choice of the consumer.

If you have a complaint about a product or service, you should try and resolve it with the retailer. Its actually against the law for the retailer to refer you to the manufacturer.

In taking into considertation the amount paid for the item, and its intended life span I am sure between you and the retailer you can come up with a suitable solution.
