For the potential deckies just a thought for admin might be a plan if enough interest is shown

PPL who would like to be a deckie and prepared to get a call for a last minute call (all hours) pending availability ie: 24/7 I must add that by registering on the list you may get a call but are not obligated to go out on that trip it must be ok with the deckie too

bottom line you are contactable 24/7 for a trip

Great idea. I have faced the same problem myself many a time.

I would be super keen to last minute deckie or vice versa but would get in the sh!t getting sms or phone calls at night because we still have the bub sleeping in our room.

we have a thing in with the fishing club i'm in. if a trip is planned for the week end, a cordinator is chosen beforehand, everybody calls who are interested in going, skippers and deckies. he will then call back with a list of deckies for skippers. all calls are then done thursday or friday by 8 pm, and this seems to work for everybody, as for friday everybody knows wheather they are going or not and 8 pm is reasonable.

Whats wrong with the Going Fishing Notice Board on here.

Puts skippers and deckies pretty much in instant contact and no need to aimlessly do the ring around.

thats all i do! and that works fine for me. have even gone hostage meself a few times using this function. but think gazza's refering to ppl who wouldn't mind getting at call between say 10 and 3, asking if they wouldn't mind going for a fish that day.

it,s 12 am your decky canceled u come on here look at a list and send a few texts or phone calls and get a quick last min replacement.

i think this has been a topic before.

it could be useful as prob not many people checking on here between 12 and 4 am ,and it seams a lot of people leave to fish 4/5 am.

the going fishing notice board works too .but to get a last min fill in ,a list would help too.
