Good place for herring.

Seeing as though the prawn numbers are down has anybody got some good landbased spots to cast net some herring? I used to get a few off the pontoon at nudgee but when I want to fish the river its a bit of a drive to get em.

just get em at newstead mate unless its mad crowded there should be a few around

Thats what I thought but there hasn't been any at all over the last few weeks, i've been using frozen or fresh bait aswell as the odd few prawns and mullet that are around.

Good numbers of herring in the pine at the end of bald hills rd. one or two cast and you have your bait for the day/night. plate size bony bream aswell

Plenty of them at Colmslie, might get some Boney Bream, Mullet and some fairly large Scat as by-catch in the cast net.

when you say at colmslie, do you mean on the boat pontoon or at the little jetty. i threw the net a couple of times down at the pontoon before we launched and got nothing.
