outboard maitenance

hi there, just wondering if anyone has some tips on regular maintenance for their outboard until its yearly service, (besides flushing it out after being in saltwater and topping up oil). I have a 2stroke 70hp.

take your prop off every so often and have a look around make sure there is no fishing line caught in behind it and check out the condition of everything, fishing line behind your prop will wear out seals and let salt water into your gear box and then ya in big expensive dramas

thanks for that fishingnut, ill do that on the weekend. A few times ive noticed line near the prop when we have finished fishing for the day, it seems to be stray line in the water and its picked it up.

no worries mate, its a bit of a silent killer, by the time you notice the damage is usually well and truly done
