O'reilly's

hey everyone, on sunday my family and i are going up to Oreilly's for 3 days. Just inquiring if you can go fishing up there, any places and what species.

o'reilly's? at the top of the range? gold coast? not sure on spots to fish but maybe lil nerang dam or hinze dam might be the closest for fishing or the nerang river above the dam, not sure on access spots

I did see eels up there ages ago, not sure if your allowed to fish there though. I remember near o'reillys we were driving up into the rainforest beside a little creek and stopped to have something to eat....water looked fishy so I cast a few lures and I did nail a small bass of about 15cm. It suprised me how far up stream I managed to catch him.

If your travelling through canungra on your way up , their is some really nice clean waters to fish there, not on the main roads, but if you follow the green tree line around the town there is some very nice bass spots, the water is drinkable (I usually dont need to drink water when I go there) . We have caught some ''garanteed'' wild bass up there over the years

o'reilly's is national park i think .

but there be fishing areas about there .

we where at darlington park .camping Easter ,u can fish there .

we went for a drive up to o'reilly's nice area.

canungra creek. will get bass, catfish and eels

Canungra creek only have wild bass if you hit them on the head with the lure. This creek is stocked by the same group that stocks Heinze.

i have read that there was a fair few cod released around canungra ,many years ago! has any one caught one up that way before?

Also please be aware that it is closed season for bass in streams.

Yes cod were also released, havnt seen any yet, only bass,turtles,catfish,carp of many colours, eels and platypus
