Anyone caught anything on a gulp clam ( pipi ) ?

I live down the road from an Amart allsports, and I cruise down there once a week to see if any of the specials have changed. I often get some really good buys. But every week for the last 6 weeks have seen packs of gulp clams ( pipis ) on specials for $1.

To me these look like extremely ordinary, and I think they would be an absolute joke.

But, I'm curious, has anybody tried these? What was the result?

I figure maybe in the surf with the fishing really going at it they might work?

Never bothered trying them as they look like little turds to me. They would probably be really effective around the Pinkenba poo shoot. Afterall its a case of match the hatch isn't it?

As you say, when the fish are going off I'm sure that they will produce results if you bunch a few of them up on a hook. At $1 I m ight buy a few packs and try them out.

I have not seen these pipi's, but I did buy a bag of their small crabs in a similar special, which cant be to different. No idea how they should be rigged, tried a couple of times with them for no luck.

i suppose they might be alright int eh surf being washed around by a bit of white water

or maybe gulp are just relying on fish biting them cause of scent etc and you're supposed to just sit them like bait :S
