queensland surf rods help

hey guys,

just wanna if anyone can tell wheres the best place to buy a surf rod for price im thinkin bout $120 maybe more cheap but good and does size matter do the 14ft rods cast further than the 12ft or the 13ft, how big do they get cheers

mate i have two a wilson and a butterworth i love them both the butterworth is a bit lighter,other than that there both good rods.and for the size depends on where you plan to do most of your fishing.

Hi pablo..broad question,define the surf fishing you intend to do, eg..off a beach light surf fishing..off rock walls,headlands etc

and what species are you targeting.whiting,bream,flatties,dart,tailor,..jew??

Casting distance basicly comes down to your experience and rod selection,weight being cast,and even reel selection,once more a broad question..

Not meaning to be a smartA, but factors come into broard questions

a bit of everything beach &rock fishing most rock fishing but i would probly use it every where

What reel you want with it?

We got some good 13 foot Alvey combo's in yesterday.

The good thing about alvey combos,is that the rods are designed for their reels and visa versa

eg a 12 foot 625L/light surf rod is mated to a 600 or 650 series reel

a 10foot 6inch 600 light surf rod is mated with a 600 or 650 reel

a 9 foot GP 550 rod is mated to a 550 reel.

With the match up of Alvey rod series with reel series you come up with the matching blank taper and rod action for the type of fishing you intend to cover.

The good thing about Alveys reels is that sand and salt over time doesn`t kill them.

PS The medium tapered and action blanks imo are the better for casting and general all round surf fishing...others may not agree,

but this is just my preferance
