Redcliffe Sunday.

Started off before sunrise at the Griffith St boat ramp half way between Scarborough and the Redcliffe Jetty. Headed north towards the reef(which looked a lot like a carpark) trolling a couple of Hardbody lures. First fish was a small flattie just off the ramp and then a couple of pike. One went out as live bait and as soon as I found my spot I dropped him down. Drifted around my spot for 4 bream( all around 35cm) and a couple of just legal squire. All taken on pumpkinseed grubs. My pike took off around sunrise and after 3 seconds whatever it was was around a bommie and rubbed me off.

When the sun cleared the horizon the fish shut down. I moved to another spot and pulled some just legal tailor and kept a couple of fillets and moved to the jetty and tried around the wall there for a couple of small trevally and tailor.

On the way back to the ramp caught a small cod and 2 more bream.

Back at the ramp I flicked a chartruse minnow around the beach and landed a small flounder and even smaller flattie on an sx40.

The fish kept a bend in my rods, but nothing worth keeping. Wish I knew what busted me off. Didn't feel like a snapper, just lots of speed.

I was there too in my two man green bass canoe. Covered allot of water however anchored up on a small patch in the middle of nowhere. Caught approx 10 undersize snapper, and about the same in whiting. No big runs or keeper fish. :( Massive turtle scared the crap of of me when it came up next to the canoe and that was about it. SE wind came up instead of a NE and it was a hard paddle back to the boatramp. It sounds like you have a much better day tomca!

that was you heading out to the green marker after sunrise E1?

I had a bit of a moment near the ramp. I was drifting in about a foot of water on the reef, and didn't notice the whalewatching cat go past further out. When the wake came onto the shallows with the wind, I thought I was gonna get smashed onto the reef.
