queensland Boggy Creek again

G'day all,

Have been away for a while with work and was itching for a fish, so I took the family down to Boggy Creek, spurred on by reports of flatties. I arrived on high tide at lunchtime and got stuck into sp's (nuclear chicken 3" & 4" minnow and shad). No luck at all, so I switched to bait in the form of prawns, again to no avail. I finally broke out a hb, can't remember the name of it, but I didn't get anything on that either. In fact, no one I came across had any luck with anything at the creek. Even blokes on yaks were coming in empty-handed. So what is the reason for this fishing report? I was pretty annoyed at the amount of rubbish laying around the place. I gathered up over 200m of discarded line, and various bait plastic bags! I understand that a lot of river detritus comes ashore there, but not to the extent that I saw. I am a firm believer in the thought that you should leave a place how you found it (if not better!) but it is clear to me that some fishos just don't give a damn. I reckon its only a very small minority who abuse our fishing spots, and wreck the experience for everyone else!

All of that aside, I still had an enjoyable day with the family, but we will not be going back there again. I think I will stick around the south side for the time being, or maybe head up to Clontarf to see if I can get any of that flattie action up there!

yeah mate there is alot of rubbish up that way i've picked up alot of line and rubbish myself. not a good look. I was up there friday evening and got a flattie and 2 bream on on cut up pillies.

Tottaly agree about the crap left there, Was there a year or two ago and my young fella asked me what is this dad, and he was holding a used syringe, no needle in it but still scary, may have come out of the storm water drains and washed down but it was the last time I took him there!!!!!!

yeah i went to a camp to crusoe island at the pin recently and was pissed*%## at a syringe found at the camp site we picked and the rubbish left behind, there was half a 4m tinny load i took back bloody disscusting and dissapointing to see that fellow waterway users seem to think that its ok to leave rubbish lying around

Yep sounds like most had an average days fishin yesterday on and around the river I got nothing but very small bream.

I reckon that's a great idea, might have to bring thick gloves though. I am going to start takinga garbage bag with me when I go fishing anyway, it doesn't take much effort to fill one sadly. Might be a good way to meet some of you characters too!
