Pin Flathead

Hit the Pin this morning with a mate chasing Flathead. Weather was perfect for a dawn start with no cloud or wind - although the run up there in the boat was very cold.

Moved around throughout the morning trying numerous spots and lure styles. We caught fish in water as shallow as half a metre and as deep as 15 metres. Hard body lures and soft plastics both caught fish, but the softies won hands down.

As predicted the northerly kicked in right on midday and as usual the fishing slowed down as a result.

The final count was 16 Flathead, with 8 being over 40cm and the biggest 70cm. There was limited bycatch of a few Bream - and no Pike! All Flathead caught were Dusky's, except for one Fringe Eye.

We also spotted a dugong swim by - they are pretty big up close! And of course there was the obligatory houseboat high and dry on a sandbank after the 2am high tide.

nice session, any new spots?

Soft plastics out gunned the Hard Baits..?

New rub glove too I see, will do my best to throw this one over too! :P

yep, one new spot that produced on both tides - two biggest fish came form it. will confirm it at the next trip

John's glove - managed to get a treble hooked in it when holding a fish which then went ballistic - had to cut a hole in the glove to get the hook out...right where your thumb goes :(
