only got charged $12 at the spit although the rangers said the money lords at kirkleigh were very different and quite exxy, we got a lot of red clat around the dam wall in the inlets, was even thinking somethin like trav's b'day. as there are showers and toilets, the works. just makes for a pretty comfy weekend.

i can live with out the showers for a week and just have a bucket bath .

but i do like having sit down shitters.

a shovel and roll works ,but somewhere to sit ,****, ponder and relax is always better.

Fishing wise try around the spit, pelican point and bay 13 in around 25-30ft there will be plenty of small bass on the bottom and a few suspended at about 15ft to keep you occupied. If your chasing phone range drive the boat to queen st area and towards kirkleigh you should pick up reception.

Lures blades will smack em also ice igs are workin a treat.for trollers see what depth the bass are at and a lure to suit.

from ipswich road you take the highway to toowoomba and after about 10to 15 minutes you turn off to your right for esk then after you pass through fernvale take the turn off after the bridge over the river this goes behind wivenhoe and brings you over the stanly river then turn right and the camping ground is 1km on your right opposite the shop

i have been a bit slack the last time i ran the fresh water shrimp and opera house traps the line was short and buggered on nearly all of them so i replaced the lot for a good shot at the redclaw. its been a while since i've targeted them but a few people have told me they've been firing lately in somerset

just a tip for the pots, make sure you have rope and heaps of it, as the water is quite high and deep, very bloody deep even close to the banks.

another tip! if you intend to take a mobile phone up with you, make sure you have a charger with you, the batteries don't last long up there, eg. my battery lasts a week in brizzy, but lasted only 1 night up there, due to lack of reception or something, but only a short drive to get reception.
