Wire, single strand or multi strand nylon coated?

I have read alot of places that you should use the multi strand nylon coated wire because the sharks can pick up on the uncoated single strand stuff. I have spoken to a couple of guys now who stick to the single strand and have alot of success and they find it alot easier to handle not needing sleeves and crimps etc. I just thought i'd ask all the shark fishos here what works for you guys?

The sharks didn't seem to notice the wire the other night at Bulimba mate. I have next to no experience with sharks, but it seems to me, if you have a livie on the end, they only have eyes for that! Then again, the river is a bit murkier than ocean, and it was at night, so I wouldn't really know!

only problem with single strand (piano wire )

is its stiff as

i allways use multi strand to fish with and single strand for trolling expensive lures where there are things with teeth

both types of wire are great less effort riging up with the nylon coated wire,forget the crimps just twist and melt the nylon coated stuff. as ryan has already said "there more interested in the live bait".

I have been using the servo (sure catch)brand 30cm nylon coated multi strand traces with great success, having acounted for 3 bull and 2 hammer heads to around the meter mark in the last 2 weeks Only reason for the cheap and nasty traces is they often get pretty messed up and find themselves in the bin. Have not tried single strand yet.

single strand is alot stiffer. but whats nice is you just do a haywire twist and its tied. have you tried the titanium leader? you can tie it with normal knots.

Thats stuff looks good, alot more expensive but has a bit of stretch and you can tie knots with it hmmmm. I just bought some single strand stuff to try, I might see how that goes first.

ive never found sharks to be picky about anything. i never fish for them but they always seem to harrass me. :laugh: with the single strand you can tie the haywire twist. also with the titanium it is a bit thinner than the stainless stuff.

hi everyone i am new to this site, but im a keen fisherman. never been fishing for sharks before but im keen to try catch some bull sharks. wondering if anyone can shed some light on bait and a location? cheers

I just use a 1000mm 100lb Mono leader havent been bitten off yet but have been failing to hook up lately
