resolved Private messages indicator.

Before the upgrade I used to get a flagged box telling me I had messages waiting. Now the only way i know if there are any there is that i get an email. I usually only look at email once a day but log on to the formu several times a day.

I am on firefox.

I have the same issue with IE. No indication there are pm's waiting for me. Works fine on firefox though.

Yes as they are different systems it no longer shows a mail icon in your login box. We are looking at a way to tell if you have a new pm to show sitewide, but at this stage the only way to tell is if you go to your profile page (or any community page) there will be a red icon at the top community menu saying you have a new message.

Also on the homepage; righthand side; under your avatar it tells you if you have any messages. Of course you need to refresh the page though.

I keep the homepage opened in a separate tab and just refresh every now and then.

Why the disappearance of my pic from the login section? Why use the Hinduism "avatar" which has no place in our normal language. Know what it means??

A few avatars were lost during the site upgrade process. The upgrades are necessary to keep pace wth the growing membership and also technology etc.

I don't think there's anything sinister in the green men.....it's just the colour I find offensive :pinch: :laugh:

I did like that box that use to pop up when you got a message, it was pretty hard to miss.

At this stage to introduce this, would mean huge amounts of requests to the server and which would ultimately mean massive haemorrhaging of the server (site possibly constantly crashing).

So unfortunately we cannot have this at this moment in time. Possibly this may be able to be introduced down the track if server infrastructure and/or code performance can be improved (ideally we would improve these but ultimately comes down to cost)
