Black spot

Hey guys can you please help IDing this fish, I did have a pic to post but I then managed to drop my iPone into the river so now I dont have a pic.

The fish was caught in the brissie river opposite new farm near the rocks. The fish was 23cm long pretty slender in between a whiting and a bream and it had a large black spot just before its tail.

I assume its a cummon fish but never seen one myself.

Very common. $10 its a moses perch.

Very cool little fish.

Legal limit of 25cm (although I would not bother keeping them until over 30cm).

Usually small in the rivers and creeks but getr bigger offshore.

Does it like this ,I caught one at scarborough point,nasty set of teeth,i didnt know what it was ,but got told it was a moses perch,they put up a good little fight.

yup mine was the same one, caught a few more, they seem to swallow the hook, little guzzlers

Moses Pearch but as Angus says they are not worth keeping unless nearere to 30cm . Much the same as bream to eat, but good little fighters.
