Giant herring

just got back from a now secret spot...i got SMASHED by giant herring, the reason for this post is this....i realy could use some tips on how to land these bad boys. i was using a baby rover but that got bit off....i then threw on a atomic k-9 with the same sucess in hook ups...all in all i lost about 20 fish!! what am i doing wrong in the fight? should i keep my rod high or low?? any help would be awesome

righto mate, try using singles instead of trebles and strike hard they have hard bony mouths and difficult to set set the hook properly and try to keep a tight line...hope that helps

keep the rod low and walk backwards

Drags them down if they jump and keeps pressure on the line

and tell me the spot

mate try a lightly weighted soft plastic. When the hooks sets there is no weight for the fish to shake it free. Same deal with tarpon.
