queensland Diamond Trev !!!

Poked around the Southport Yacht Club this morning chasing some bream. Only fished there twice before for doughnuts. Was looking like the same again and paddled towards Fishermans Island and picked this little beauty. Could tell by the fight it was a trev but was amazed to see a diamond coming up under the yak. Took a couple of pics, measured out to 41 cms then released it.

I bet it was a shock to pull that up. Its a good speices to have put on your fish list for 2010 mate. I think you will find that it is actually a pennant fish.Its similar to the diamond trev. well done.

top looking fish warren and they get quite big i've seen them at 10kilo and the hair like fin just keeps growing

yeah we saw 2 baby ones (under 10cm) swimming off Caloundra on Saturday when we were out chasing the tuna. Beaut looking fish.

caught a 35 odd one in the lower coomera, threads on the fins are quite amazing
