i've said before that i didn't think that threadfins would spawn in the river and i've said that i thought that a lot of the specimens looked unhealthy and i'm dead wrong on both accounts! so good to see- i wonder (and i'll never know) if it's because the water temperature or conditions (because of being dammed) have changed or if the river is just getting back to how it used to be pre-industrial brisbane. lovely fish.

yeah I remember heaps of boats at the pipe when I first went out there about 3years ago

and 7 years is pretty quick to get from that size to over a metre.

Does anyone know yet things like are they egg layers or have live babies and what size they hatch/born?

You would have to think at the size of this one Bullies would love em.

the breeding females lay a ton of eggs which hatch into fry like most fish, id assume theres a pretty high mortality rate like any other fish larva, many think that the small ones swim upstream to avoid predators (though the bullies up there will still chew on them no doubt)
