Boat won't plane.

I have a 4.2 tinny with a clapped out 25hp.

I have now bought an old johnson 35hp whilst i reckon my 25 possibly.

This engine is forward control not tiller steer. So i have mounted the cable forward/reverse and bolted on a tiller handle.

With a full 25ltr fuel tank, mounted on the front i can eventually get up on the plane and go 39kph.It will only do this on full throttle.any thing up to this the nose is right up.

As soon as i fill the rear livewell 40ltrs then it will not get up on the plane.

I have played with different hole/trim settings and taken the hydro fin wings off.

Are the engines different.

As i use fuel the nose is lighter.

Anybody have any ideas of what else to try.

Cheers

Bri.

Quite possibly the wrong prop is fitted have a look and see what size is fitted and have a chat to the guys at Solas they are very helpfull.

You may have to go down a few sizes in pitch as it sounds like the motor isnt reving out.

Could also be a problem with motor but check prop first. I take it none of the blades are severely damaged. What hull did the motor come off/ Was it much lighter than yours?

double check the carby is actually going to "full open" when twist grip is open

is there a blockage on the breather tube for the fuel tank 'plastic tanks will suck in "

is the leg to long for the transom thus in the water to deep

prop damaged

all cylinders working

no compression

hull covered in barnacles

crap motor burn in hell

good luck with this one bri

Cheers for help guys.

now that you mention it.

The prop is not the original prop, but i have the original as a spare but the bush has sheared.

It is a long shaft the same as what came off.

The motor was serviced before i had it ive got the receipt.

the compression is 120 in both ports.

I really think its just slight adjustment somewhere.
