Spelling checker

Sorry probably a stupid question but is there a spelling checker for posting ect I am a very clumsy typer :laugh:

Pretty sure there is an inbuilt one. A little red line appears under a word when you type it wrong. Try it....

If you have Firefox, you have an inbuilt spell checker

I don't work for Firefox, it's just a million times better than IE

If you are concerned about typing do what i do.

Before you post cut and paste it into a word document. Make Suggested changes. Cut and paste it into notepad (to remove any code from word) and cut and paste it back here.

I dont do this all the time, but with important posts concerning events etc I often do.

Just learnt how to use spell check when its underlined in red. Click on the word with the right mouse button and viola!

Found it when I pressed the help button at top of screen.

Wonder what else is there.

The internet browser Firefox has an inbuilt spell checker. So if you use that spell checker it will check your spelling. Internet Explorer (which is a Microsoft internet browser) does not have this feature.

Yeah this did come to my attention a couple of times too davo... things like color/colour etc.... Don't suppose there's a way to change it??

There is one thing that annoys me and that is American spelling. You can make sure that firefox isn't set for American spelling and set it for British or Australian spelling by following this firefox article

You can download the Australian and British languages here to install in firefox:

(Note you will find that unfortunately lazy American spelling is creeping into our dictionary which is a shame, so I like to use the proper British spelling, but it's your choice but please don't use American!!)

Note - for those too lazy to read the article, (Firefox users only)

1. Right-click any word in a post your currently typing

2. Select languages - add dictionary (new window opens)

3. Select English (Australian)

4. Install - (Firefox will restart and re-open your existing tabs)

5. repeat step 1

6. Select Languages - English (Australian)

7. Bob's your father's brother

Thanks Johnny and Scope and also Steve for asking the question . I now have aussie spelling its 56 years since I left school and even then I wasn't particularly good at spelling.
